Hi, I put 10.3 on my iBook 700 12" last night. I did a clean install. No worries.
I want to install Classic. Hmmm. What do I have in my kit of CDs? I have a 9.1 installer and a 9.2 upgrade. Fine - let's give it a whirl. Nope... The 9.1 installer CD doesn't want to boot. If I try to install it off the CD without booting off the CD I get a message saying something like it can't write to my hard disk. Fair enough. Some reading this morning from (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=62001) suggests the following IMPORTANT: If your computer will not start up from the Mac OS 9.1 or 9.2 installation CD, you must use the special Software Restore CD that was included with the computer. This CD erases and reinstalls the software that came on your computer. Okay... I have a Software Restore CD, but this worries me a bit: * How do I use this to install just OS 9? * The statement that "This CD erases and reinstalls the software" worries me a tad. Please advise. Perhaps there is a bootable CD of 9.2 available. That would seem to be the most direct method. Regards and thanks Gary
