Hi there folks,
I have read some talk recently in Australian Mac User and in the Australian
(the Barrow) about the possibility of Mac prices coming down due to the
improvement in our dollar during the past few months.
It seems Apple Australia are being tight lipped about this issue at the
moment. Apparently Macs are about the only import that has not yet had a
price reduction.
I think you'll find there are lots of imports that haven't had price
reductions. And in 20 years of Mac, I've only seen the price reduced
due to exchange rate changes once or twice, so I wouldn't hold my
breath.
As I am thinking of upgrading my iMac 266 in the near future, has anyone
heard any more about this. I would be really "peed orf" if prices fell right
after I made my purchase.
Well, I don't think you'll be annoyed on that account (especially as
the dollar's on its way back down from the lofty 80c mark). On the
other hand you're pretty much always going to be annoyed, because
computers are doubling in speed and storage every year or so. Such is
life in the computing business.
Have fun,
Shay
