I was at systems security conference last week and they showed how easy it was to hack a wireless network.

The best "home made" antennae was actually a pringles can, not a Nescafe / Milo tin.

This link http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/666e/ has a more "professional" version of the pringles can.

Scared me off ever having a wireless network, well for the moment anyway.

Funnily enough, I think the easiest way might be to provide access to someone's wireless AP... perhaps firewalled so it can only be used for updates from Apple. I guess I don't have any particular objection to someone driving outside my place and doing that :) Thought it would be bizarre to have these guys milling outside all updating their OS' :)

even more bizarre would be if they all had Pringle or Nescafe tins (coffee tins don't go soggy in the rain) antennas pointed at your windows and were all wearing these <http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/coder/60f0/> eh?

lol my AP barely reaches from my study to the lounge (a distance of less than 5 meters) I blame double clay brick interior walls... - so that's why new houses are being built single brick or dry-wall? to allow for wardriving?
