I use one, and I'm not too concerned about break-ins given how I have it
configured. I have it hooked up to a dedicated port on our Linux router,
with a firewall that requires an IPSec tunnel in order to allow traffic
to pass to the Internet or the local LAN. This means I can also leave
WEP and MAC-address restrictions disabled (after all, neither of them is
as useful as it could be anyway) and provide local AP-based connectivity
to others. They just can't get to my LAN or my DSL link.

Unfortunately, this can be a fair bit of work and is more trouble than
most want to go to.
