MS Office Mac Registration

I have been trying unsuccessfully to register my upgrade from Office 
2001 to Office Mac v.X on line.

It requires getting a passport to the MS sites. I did this but when I 
tried to sign in it kept saying the password was incorrect. I tried 
using Exploder instead of Safari, still no go.

But I could use the password to sign in to Member Services and cancel 
my account!

Anyone know what the problem is? I did not tick the box to say they 
could share my email address with other sites but I presumed this was 
optional.
