I'd need to go back into list archives to find them but there have been
a number of complaints of compatibility of these drives. They also
tend to use slower (read cheaper) drives in their ready-built
solutions. Take a look on some of the FireWire lists .... you'll see
the majority proportion of complaints from users and testers relate to
Maxtor drives.
I don't want to denigrate Maxtor drives but we've seen a significantly
higher proportion of these drives fail in relation to Hitachi and
Western Digital. One of their Australian distributors stopped selling
Maxtor drives directly as a result of the high number of RMA claims.
You are much better off buying a reliable FireWire drive and using an
automated backup solution such as Retrospect (and v6 works superbly
well) - so you have a nil-touch backup drive.

Hi Cal
There are some really bad user reviews for these units. I'd also be
very wary of Maxtor drives generally.
Hi Keith
That's interesting 'cos I seem to remember reading some quite good
reviews -
what seems to be the problems reported with Maxtor, in general, and the
OneTouch units in particular?
Cheers
