So are there many others out there experiencing this sort of thing?
I was setting up a users personal laptop yesterday (private job at home not UWA) and after configuring the network for his ISP then plugging in the cable then loggin g I set the preinstalled Notrons antivirus to do an update (the preinstall virus def file was 3 months old). 15 minutes after connecting to the internet I ran the updated anti virus software and it found 4 Worm/Trojans.
this morning he rang me to tell me that he was getting popups and I told him to run "AdAware" and "Search and Destroy". in less than 4 hours of web browsing last night he had over 60 adware instances detected and removed. But was still getting new popups even as i was talking him minutes after running the ad removers.
He was rather exasperated and claimed that he felt like inserting the PC laptop (err how shall I put it "in through the out door") of the shop's sales staff that had scoffed at him when he told them that he had an iMac at work.
