I think you make an image of the old drive with Disk Utility power down
and then attach the new drive.
Now choose restore in Disk Utility and apply the old.dmg to the new drive.
Power down, put the new drive in its new place and reboot.
I think;) Havent done this myself but I believe that to be right, others
may add corrections and details.
