I'll ad my 2cents and say that I upgraded my iPod's OSX system using
the system update panel without issues. It now boots macs to 10.3.6
no problems

Sigh. That will be particularly useful when I attempt to upgrade my
Mac that only has OS X installed on an external drive!
As a general rule I only install combo updates these days anyway, as
there all too frequently seem to be issues with the partial updates.
