Also sometimes they will have the drive connected when running the

drive will not show. So sure it is OK to update to 10.3.6, just make
sure you do not have the drive connected when running the update and
make sure you get the "Combo" update.
So I went ahead and upgraded to 10.3.6 using the Combo Updater, with
the drives off-line. No problems so far. To exercise the d2, I ran
DiskWarrior 3.02 against the drive and it found no errors.

I have always updated using the recommended in Software update without
any problems.
I always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility & also run MacJanitor or
Yasu after a update.
I have a External Firewire 120GB Drive & a LaCie DVD-+R/RW Firewire
Burner.
Both are functioning correctly after the OSX10.3.6 Update.
