Anyway, my instructions were to book in a repair on-line and send it
back. Interesting that you have to take the iPod without any box or
accessories to the Post Office where they have special iPod
envelopes waiting - I have this vision of iPod body-bags waiting all
around the country for the casualties.
I guess this is cheaper than having to deal with warranty forms and
high turn around of staff from the myriad of non Apple Computer
retailers that sell iPods (JB HiFi etc) particularly when dealing
with iPods bought from different retailers or on line). I just took
mine back to a Apple retailer
The paperwork for the booking says once they've received it, it will
take approx one week to assess (UNLESS PERSONALISED)!! But it
doesn't say how long personalised ones will take. This
personalisation problem is something I'd say people should consider.
this is because they will need to track all work on a personalised
one so that you get your own one back rather than another
reconditioned one or at least you get another reconditioned one with
your old personalised backplate.
So, given we're in WA, I imagine that I'll be without the iPod for
maybe four weeks or more. Might get lucky, but doubt it.
dealing with a retailer 3 day turn around 2 of the times mine were serviced
I guess it might depend on the service departments inventory of this
model though.
