Just an update on the problem I mentioned a few week or so ago with the new 60GB iPod IPhoto.

I was hoping to use the iPod to play blues, not give me them.

The machine did settle down a bit and operation of everything was fine, except the two problems of not being able to play a list or library with a large volume of songs, and also not being able to manually reset.

I'm sending it back to Apple today for repair. I tried many times to get through to Apple iPod support, but couldn't normally hang on for over ten minutes, so had to keep hanging up, so it took a few days to get through.

Slow process with someone with not great English so it wasn't possible to get into a conversation and who was only able to go through a basic process of what version of Updater I had etc, after taking five minutes to get write my name, address and details very slowly. (All of which should be in my Apple store profile!)

Anyway, my instructions were to book in a repair on-line and send it back. Interesting that you have to take the iPod without any box or accessories to the Post Office where they have special iPod envelopes waiting - I have this vision of iPod body-bags waiting all around the country for the casualties.

The paperwork for the booking says once they've received it, it will take approx one week to assess (UNLESS PERSONALISED)!! But it doesn't say how long personalised ones will take. This personalisation problem is something I'd say people should consider.

So, given we're in WA, I imagine that I'll be without the iPod for maybe four weeks or more. Might get lucky, but doubt it.

Matt.
