Just check the warranty provisions before you part with the Cold Hard.
Make sure that Australia Post can honour the replacement of a faulty
unit. In my experience with USB drives they can vary substantially in
quality and reliability. Even "reliable" ones I have sold have had to
be replaced after a few months' use.
Having said that, the price of these things has come down to a point
where they can be considered almost a necessary purchase for anyone who
uses a computer that has USB ports. When I bought my first 64Mb unit
(which I still use) they cost about $1 per Mb. They can now be
purchased for as low as $0.20 per Mb and as such are representing good
value. This disregards the convenience factor, the value of which is
much greater than the cost, IHMO.
Amazingly, I still see (PC) people using floppies...
