Hi All, For all crossword enthusiast, or cheaters, try this little gem that I picked up from the latest issue of Inside Mac Radio. ... On your system, 10.2 and greater I think, you have a Webster dictionary that you access via the the Terminal app. The Webster dictionary, web2, is located in /usr/share/dict and by using the Unix grep command you can search for a word. The grep command structure is grep w ³the word you looking for² /path The "word" is made up known characters and blanks, blanks are entered as . So here is an example:
grep -w "ap.l." /usr/share/dict/web2 This grep search will find words that matches a patter of "ap.l." in the Webster Dictionary, you should get an answer of: apple, apply, aptly Have fun with your little word or crossword helper. Cheers, Peder
