Hello People,
I just read Shay's reply to Kevin's question and thought he , or
someone with Windows XP knowledge (oh sorry, I have trouble even
typing anything to do with 'Yuk-Windows).
My Neighbour has been asking me for help with this problem.
Windows XP - Outlook Express 6 - ADSL connection.
Her mail is working correctly for Sending & Receiving ... well,
except for Sending to a Hotmail address.
She can receive from the hotmail address, but is unable to Send to it.
I understand that Hotmail is HTTP not SMTP (for sending).
I have no trouble sending to the hotmail address on my Mac OSX10.3.8
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm really having a bad
headache over this.
Have you checked whether there is an issue about the email's
formatting? ie Plain text or HTML?
Is hotmail refusing the message or will it simply not send?
Good Luck
Paul
Thanks, Paul, Rob, Mark & WAMUGers,
Originally the only problem was unable to send to a hotmail.com email
address.
She was getting a message ' cannot find the server'
Everything else was functioning correctly .... apparently!
Well, now an update : I had a phone call from 'The Neighbour in
Question' this morning informing me that she has now found 'Trogan' on
her computer when she ran Ad-Aware this morning.
She is now unable to receive any mail !!!
So I guess the first thing is to get rid of the Trogan ???
Then see what problems she has.......
Oh dear, WindowsXP ...... Windows Users who don't take precautions.
Thanks for your help guys. I really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Ronni
