as some of you may recall from list discussion I purchased a Canon A80 Powershot in April last year....

Though generally very happy with the camera however from the very first photo there was evidence of a "dead pixel" in the CCD, in that if a photo was shot with a certain area being dark it showed a single pixel red dot... easy enough to fix in photoshop... trouble is now the "red spot" seems to be getting larger with the shot's I downloaded last night now seeming to have the "red spot" taking up 9 or more pixels and spreading out further in a checkerboard pattern (using same size and JPEG compression so not resolution or JPEG artifacting issue)

Now obviously it's still under warranty but is an obsolete (no longer made) model.

so has anybody experienced canon warranty service and what are they likely to do, it seems highly unlikely they would repair/replace the CCD so would they replace the whole camera with a model of similar specifications (4 MPixel 3x zoom) or will they replace it with one of equal purchase value ($600) or????
