as some of you may recall from list discussion I purchased a Canon A80 Powershot in April last year....

Now obviously it's still under warranty but is an obsolete (no longer made) model.

so has anybody experienced canon warranty service and what are they likely to do, it seems highly unlikely they would repair/replace the CCD so would they replace the whole camera with a model of similar specifications (4 MPixel 3x zoom) or will they replace it with one of equal purchase value ($600) or????

Canon are very reasonable (easy) and pleasant to deal with and have a service centre in Osborne Park; I think you'll find there is every chance they will replace the CCD (these cameras are very *modular*) but it's easy enough to give them a call and you can talk to people who understand their product!
