I was hoping someone in WAMUG could give some advice-
I recently installed netscape 4.78 for OS9 into classic (i'm running
os 10.3) - it was needed for an old medical textbook. The textbook now
works, fine but I've been left with a much bigger problem - every time
I try and click on a weblink, classic launches and netscape opens.
This is really irritating the crap out of me and I'm not sure how to
fix it.
Ive tried ctrl-clicking html and .webloc files in the finder and
making sure that they're set to open safari or firefox, but despite
this netscape still launches when I double click them. The same goes
for clicking web links in emails.
Is there any way to stop this from happening? I want to get back to
being able to click on weblinks and have firefox open rather than
launching netscape
Somewhere you will have a set of Netscape preferences that you could
trash which would stop this !
Depending on your settings in :- Preferences - Classic - Advanced
you may have preferences for Netscape in your OSX
under perhaps ..... Library, or System - Library , or Users.. your
name .. Library
or alternately , you are using the preferences in your Classic OS9
System Folder.
Now that's quite a choice .
If you can find the set of Netscape Preferences being used and trash
them
you should be able to get back to square one .
Have fun
