I don't recall any iMacs prior to the G5 units having external microphone/audio ports
assume you have checked that the mic preferences in both system (and/or control panels if in classic) and in the application match as internal mic? failing that a USB mic should work or a standard mic through USB audio in/out unit like the iMic (I have a spare iMic one you could try and/or buy) I only had hit and miss success with generic PC shop USB mics on classic though and have never tried them on OSX > -- I have a Spanish language learning CD running on my 500 MHz iMac, but it > needs an external microphone plugged in for some uses. I've tried a couple of microphones from other equipment which could be inserted into the external microphone slot, but neither worked well or at all. > > -- Can anyone tell me the specs of a microphone which should work with the > iMac, and possibly where to get one (Tandy's handy)?
