Interesting it looks like the 350 is designed to re enable most of the 20D's processor features that were disabled ("cripplewared") when it was ported in to the EOS 300D body.

Still looks like they have "cripplewared" the 350 by making the menu more clunky than the 20D and either making the backlight on the LCD to dim or the LCD screen it's self not "contrasty" enough for professional use. It will be interesting to see how long before someone works out if the back light intensity and/or the screens contrast can by improved with a grey firmware update or finding a compatible but better quality LCD screen

Subject: canon digital EOS camera firmware cracks?

does anybody know anything about these?
some one on a camera forum was saying that both the EOS 300D and the
new EOS 350D's have firmware that is essentially "crippleware" that
disable functions to position them lower in the marketing mix than
the more expensive prosumer units (like the old Powerbooks non
DVD-W DVD-RW drives and the iBooks "non extended" desktop video card)
and that like the Apple laptops they should be able to be moded to
 give the extra features back.
