At one of my previous employers we had

unix and Windows users had to type the names in, and thus be able to
spell them :)
PowerBooks were named after explorers, ie Lawson, Leichhardt etc.
The LaserWriters were called Mallee and Ironbark (and collectively
known as Daintree) :)
