I'm not sure whether this will be helpful to you or not but you can
attach your powerbook to a stereo for about $8. All you need is a
cable that plugs in to your headphone socket and has 2 RCA plugs. Of
course you also need a stereo or radio that has some ports available
for input.

I have a need for a set of audio speakers that I can run from my
Powerbook. This will be a one off use, and so, rather than paying for
a new set of speakers, which may just gather dust, I am posting this
message.
Does anyone have a set of speakers which I could use, which they are
not using and are willing to sell? If so please let me know and we
can work out a price.
