Greetings,

I would like to move my iTunes library over to a PC laptop which I can then
leave next to the stereo. Is it possible to just do a straight copy?
Yep.

Method A:
Just locate the folder containing the music, iTunes' advanced preferences will reveal this location. Make sure you have a network connection from the Mac to the PC, I don't recommend going from the PC to the Mac, could be much slower with a risk of timeouts. Then a straight copy of the required files or folders to the PC's music folder. This is usually located somewhere like "~\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music".

Method B:
For copying specific songs over you can first make up a playlist with your Mac iTunes, then select all and drag and drop them into the PC, or any other open window for that matter including your desktop. This method can fail sometimes if copying to a PC and there are "illegal" characters in the filenames, I think. Not as surefire as Method A.

After:
Once copied over you simply drag and drop all those new files or folders into the PC's iTunes window to add them to it's library. If confused at this point with duplicate entries etc, I remove everthing from within iTunes (while saying no to having them go to the trash of course) then re-add everything with a drag and drop.

Have fun
Paul
