Apple's built-in tools to do it over FireWire, probably.
Apple's Migration Assistant software enables you to transfer all
prefs, apps etc from old Mac to new Mac via Firewire. It is simply
magic.
Have you ever seen Leunig's cartoon where the new dog digs up the old
dog, during a weekend backyard barbecue, sharing a cask of Coolibah?
