For those in the know,
I am wondering what is the best direction to place a photograph on
the scanner screen
portrait or landscape.
with the intention that the A6 (102 x 152 mm) foto print is
eventually enlarged to a A2 size ( 420 x 597mm) about a 140%
enlargement
or does it not make any difference
Whilst it doesn't make any difference in my experience, theoretically
you'd want the long axis of the photo aligned with the scan head (the
thing that moves), as that would result in most of the image being
scanned with the head in one position and the least chance of
misalignment between 'rows'.
So
+-----------+ <-- scanner
| |
| |
| |
| |
| +--------+|<-- photo
| | ||
| | ||
| +--------+|
+-----------+
If you're using non-proportional fonts you'll just have to guess at
the above diagram.
Have fun,
Shay
