I asked this question two weeks ago and got no replies but will try once more. It is obviously a rare problem.
My friend has an iMac OS 10.4.2. In the Desktop folder in his Home folder there is a list of hundreds of .jpg files all with nothing in them, zero k. It looks as if every photo in iPhoto had a ghost on the desktop. When we delete them a warning comes up for each one saying that file is part of the OS and deleting it may cause problems with the application. Again, when we click on any part of the seemingly empty desktop a .jpg file appears. We have run Yasu but no joy. Should we trash the preference com.apple.desktop.plist or something similar or is a complete OS reinstall indicated? Any ideas would be appreciated. Lloyd --
