Thank you... thank you so much. I find help files very easy to
understand once I find what I am looking for but I think I must be the
world's worst for finding things in help files whether in an index or
table of contents.
All working perfectly.... thank you again Peter and the others who

Hi there,
I am currently running FileMaker 6 on 10.3.9 and have a database of
info for a group of people and would like to add a small photo of
each person to their record..... is this possible and if so HELP!!!
Sure! Simply create a new field of type "Container" and give it a
suitable name, and put it somewhere on a suutable layout. A container
field can contain all sorts of data, including sounds, movies, and
pictures (and others).
The easiest way to get a picture into a container field is simply
using copy-and-paste. You will probably also want to make sure that
the field's display properties are set to display the picture in its
correct proportions. There are detailed instructions all about this in
the online help and in the FM manual.
There are other ways to get pictures into container fields as well.
Again, the book has all the gumph.
Also..... if i export records or create new dbases etc the file shows
as .fp5...... why not fp6?
It's because there is really no difference in the file structure
between FM5 and FM6, so they did not change the file extension.
Filemaker 5 will quite happily load and run files created in FM6, but
it cannot use any of the newer features in 6 which are not in 5.
There are basically three different (and mutually incompatible)
filename extensions in the "New World" Filemaker (ie, since version
2). They are .fp3 (for FMP3 and FMP4), .fp5 (FMP5, 5.5 amd 6) and now
.fp7 (for FMP7 and 8).
