Dear WAMUG'ers, I use a SanDisk 512MB (SD Card) in my Lumix LZ30, which seems to works OK in the camera, however I just cannot read the card when inserted in my Transcend' card reader connected to my G5 1.8Mhz dual, running OS X 3.3.9. The card reader is connected to a USB 2.0 powered hub.
I have used Disk Utility to try to mount the SD disk on the desktop, but nothing happened. I also tried to reformat the card but Disk Utility bombed with the dreaded beach-ball. Disk Utility was able to detect the Card, its size etc, but was unable to mount it on the desktop. The strange thing is that the card reader will 'mount' the original Panasonic SD16MB card, provided with the camera, and other SD cards as used in my daughter's Kodak cameras, and recently cards from other cameras - Nikon & Canon. Using the USB cable, I was able to download the photos directly from the camera/SD 512MB card. Is the memory card faulty, although when in the camera it is working perfectly? I am somewhat tempted to return the card to the supplier, but want to be sure of my facts before doing so. Any ideas please? Many thanks, Philippe PS I would strongly recommend the Panasonic Lumix FZ30 to anyone who wants a good digital camera, but not prepared to jump to an SLR. The lenses in the camera are just wonderful.
