You can always use VLC player to play any DVD. It bypasses the whole region thing. To bypass the automatic loading of Apple DVD player when you insert a movie DVD go into system prefs and alter the automatic setting for what happens when you insert a movie DVD. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
