You could try setting up another account in Mail under a different name
but with all the settings needed to go to your wife's email address
and see if that works .

My wife is using Mail version 1.3.11 as her email program on our eMac (OS 10.3.9). All has been well for at least 2 years. She checks mail manually, usually two or three times a day. This morning she went to check mail and could not connect. There was the usual message " connecting to server mail.echidna.id.au" and the waiting symbol. After approx. 45 seconds the "no mail" sound was heard. There was no error message.

She checked preferences carefully and made several attempts to connect without success. She discovered that she could send messages, but every attempt to receive resulted in failure. She then noticed that when the attempt to connect failed, her account in the Inbox greyed out, and she was supposedly offline. My own account in the Inbox was unaffected and was able to receive her test messages as well as other material.

We contacted our ISP, iinet and had very good and patient service from the tech on the phone. We established that there was nothing wrong with the connection, so it had to be a setting in the Mail program, but we were unable to find anything that we could change.

We spent more than an hour on this, with no success. Has anyone any suggestions as to what we might try? She has read her mail on the web, but is very frustrated by this inability to receive.

TIA
Kev
