Without wanting to sound like a kill joy - it's pretty amazing your 1710 was actually still working up to that point. Let it sit for a while as this problem on the 1710 is generally, initially, intermittent

They were (and I use the past tense deliberately) prone to self destruct - when they were new when we fitted several large laboratories out with them at ECU (we are talking several hundred machines as they were also fitted to our labs Wintel boxes) we had around 80% failure with this same problem (would not power up - intermittent at first then terminal) with in a year and even the replacements proved to be almost as unreliable.

In 2000 one of the first things I did at my new job at UWA was to clear out a store room with about 30 or 40 of them that had died and the school had kept them wanting Apple to replace them (many of them already had been replaced at least once). With in a year all the remaining 1710 failed with the same problem.

I personally purchased two of them with my 7300 and one died with in a year and its replacement within within 2 years and the other lasted just under 6 years.

Solution? grab the next issue of The Quokka. New and second hand 17" monitors - even Sony Trinitron and Trinitron II's - are dirt cheap.

Hi

I have a problem with my Apple Vision 1710 monitor I would like some
help with. Connected to a 7300/200.

I moved the monitor from one desk to another, then a couple of days
later when starting up - dead as a doornail. Will not turn on. Have
tried unplugging/replugging all cables, numerous restarts. No better.

Any ideas>

Regards PC
