I have slowly over the years pieced together a tasty home theatre setup.
I'm a bit fussy when it comes to quality, always going for the component video / digital audio source wherever I can (I'm only using 100cm CRT technology at this stage).
I keep wondering if I should be using my G5 as some sort of media centre - obviously I spend plenty of time sitting behind it working in the study but I'm wondering if I should bring some vision in to the lounge room - music, slide shows, footage. Digital audio is easy - have coax [or digital audio cable], will travel. What vision options are there? Convert to S-Video (or better) and run a long cable or something? I've got ethernet in the lounge room and even a spare G3 laptop (with S-Video out) so streaming might be an option...
And then I had another question - we play a lot of the same DVDs over and over (kids stuff, some screen saver stuff). What the recommendations for storing DVDs on hard drives? I'm actually thinking I might just stick with the discs even though the thought of having my library on demand is tempting...
All input warmly welcomed! Cheers, Antony.
