Just outdated mapping - no conspiracy theories please...
Have a look at Bunbury - the city centre has old clunky maps but
the suburbs don't !
There are many places to look around but it may not be a surprise
to see that Baghdad is mapped with a reasonable resolution...

Well, for the moment, Google Earth has firmly established itself as a
great time-waster! One annoying feature is the way the resolution
for various areas is different. Our previous home in Dalkeith is
clear in all detail including the swimming pool but for the Albany
area the houses become merged blobs as you zoom in. Another example
of discrimination agianstus regional residents!
You're just having a laugh, right? Though I haven't used Google Maps
or Google Earth (nor read an FAQ), I get the impression that the
images comes from a variety of pre-existing satellites. The images can
be years out of date and of poor resolution, if that's all the
satellites' owners have available for public consumption. I assume
Google just aggregates other people's data hasn't itself launched a
trillion dollars' worth of satellites into space just to be able to
focus on the hairs on the back of your neck in real time.
