Hi Susan & Lloyd,
Using iPhoto 5 I imported Video clips & photos from Digital cameras
with no problems.
I did experience, after importing photos & video clips from my
Nephew's Casio digital camera that the video clips had no sound, they
were in AVI format.
I found that I needed the M4S2 Codec for Quicktime.
Once I downloaded this from:
<http://emonkid.hp.infoseek.co.jp/EX_M4S2/index_e.html>
Extracted the downloaded file & then moved EX_M4S2.component to HD/
Library/Quicktime
Quicktime could then play the AVI files correctly and I could use
them in iMovie & iDVD.
No problems in iPhoto 6.
Cheers,
Ronni

Hi Lloyd, that's what happens with movies I take with my digital
camera. I've never thought of it as a terrible problem, just what
would happen if I wanted to upload that type of movie. You can open
imovie, go to the media tab, and find the movies along with the
photos, and put them into the timeline. I'd be interested if anyone
else saw this as a problem. My experience with imovie is that you
have to attach a video camera to get a direct import into imovie.
cheers, Susan.

I have a friend who is using an iMac OSX 10.4.3 and has had terrible
problems with iPhoto.
He tells me in transferred a movie taken with his digital camera,
not a
movie camera, into iPhoto along with his other photos on the card.
Would that be the cause of his problem?
He attempted a rebuild By holding down the option and apple keys
and ended
up with a spinning ball and all the photos unreadable.
Should we reinstall the whole iPhoto or can something be done.
