Warren I had a HORRIFIC experience with the DLO Transpod for iPod 5G. It's a brilliant unit, great sound (maybe better than the old Griffin iTrip), nice looking unit, cool blue light, fits the ipod well etc etc BUT one horrific fault for me. It was in the way of my gear stick (80 series Landcruiser) so I had to use the supplied extension arm which lifted it 10 or 15 cm higher. The whole thing (as you know) plugs into the cigarrette lighter. After about a week of use it began to move/rotate in the lighter socket - due to the weight of the iPod photo and the torque produced with the long extension arm. I drove around a corner (in a normal fashion) and the whole thing rotated in the socket throwing my Ipod onto the floor of the car - luckily no damage. Disaster! I sent it back to the supplier the next day.
Now I know your mini is not as heavy and you may not need to use the extension arm, but just thought I'd warn you of my experience. I have since waited a couple of months and done a lot of research. I'm not having anything rotating in my lighter socket! I also need something that charges AND transmits/plays at the same time (both must happen via the dock connector) I have finally decided to go for the Kensington model which gets good reviews. Kensington Digital iPod FM Transmitter & Charger http://www.streetwise.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=143_183&products_id=3837 I will mount it using my $2.99 mobile phone mount from Supercheap autos. I have posted a couple of picks on my iWeb site http://web.mac.com/blitto/iWeb/BlittosBalcattaStuff/Other%20Stuff/CF33789A-A 65A-11DA-A4D5-000A95BDCFCE.html or http://web.mac.com/blitto/iWeb click on "Other Stuff" then click on "Read More" Cheers Rod Blitvich on 25/2/06 11:30 PM, Warren Jones at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Not strictly Mac-related but.... > > I'm looking for a car FM transmitter/recharger for my iPod mini and > from the research I've done on the net it seems the Transpod by DLO > is the best. > Anyone have any experience with these or in comparison to other brands? > > Anyone sell these in Perth?
