Yes, this would be correct. The optical reads the colour separations
differently, so as it moves from one colour to another the optic picks up
the information differently, which is why it bounces over the screen.

I had clients that had the same problem and once I said to get a plain
colour mouse mat the problem disappeared. (They didn't believe either when I
said it, but once I explained it they did.) :o)

Glad you found a solution though.
(Oh, and excuse my not so technical explanation,...that's the way  I
understand it anyway,..hehehe)
