Hi all

Our Zensonic Z330 DVD/DivX/MPEG4 player recently died.
Oh well, it was a bit cheesy anyway.

I'd like to put a Mac in the lounge-room to replace both the Zensonic and maybe even our Yess DVB-T1288 set top box.

I am testing a Dvico PCI digital tuner card with iTele.app and the MMInput Drivers. Seems promising. I can record digital broadcasts with this but have so far been unable to view the live feed, stay tuned... So I am hoping a cheap-ish Mac can take on the jobs that the Zensonic was doing, with the added function of recording TV.
LAN access is a bonus too..

I guess I need to find a graphics card with S-Video out.
It sounds like ATI offerings have the edge over Nvidia with S-Video quality.

$200 seems around par for a graphics card to do these sort of tricks, or am I wrong? I hope I am ;-)

I noticed recently that I can get ITV F1 broadcasts of qualifying and races on BitTorrent.
Not to mention Lost!
We are really missing our DivX player...

John Dalgleish, the author of these TV software, and some of the folk on the forums at http://www.defyne.org/dvb/ have been *very* helpful indeed :-) Apparently he also wrote Agax. I used this anti-virus ages ago when I got infected with the Seven Dust virus, which at the time hadn't been spotted in the wild for years...

Is anyone successfully using a Mac connected to a TV via an AGP or PCI card with S-Video for TV-out? Is anyone using a *flashed* card with S-Video? How has that gone for you?
What is the 'slowest' Mac someone is using to do this sort of thing?
Is anyone game enough to recommend a specific card?

I also need to speak to an aerial installer, any recommendations?

Thank you (sorry, I know I write long posts ;)

Paul
