Dear WAMUGgers

I've been viewing ABC Science videos at http://www.abc.net.au/science/experimentals/

As you might already know, Microsoft has given up on Windows Media Player for Mac (bless their little hearts), and instead recommended flip4Mac plugin for Quicktime.

Can anyone explain why I can't get sound in Quicktime flip4Mac replays at this website, but it's Ok in RealPlayer. I'd prefer to get the full video in Quicktime as then I can save it for future classroom use (Quicktime Pro).

I'm not getting any sound when watching flash clips (e.g. news stories at
http://www.nytimes.com), realplayer movies (e.g. those under
http://news.bbc.co.uk/) or quicktime movies (e.g. this one
http://www.edge.org/3rd_culture/pinker_blank/pinker_blank_print.html).
I do get sound when watching e.g. the quicktime stuff on the Apple site.
Anyone has the same problem? Any ideas out there what's wrong?
Thanks.

Try changing the audio settings in Applications>Utilities> Audio MIDI
setup to 44.1KHz

Amazing. This works. I'm surprised how difficult it was to figure
this one out. One would think many people are interested in using
their Macs to watch quicktime, flash, or realplayer recordings.
Wrong assumption I guess.
