Hi Susan,
I was checking around on the web last night and the Logitech Quickcam Pro caught my eye. It is USB 2, but I was not sure if my eMac 1.25 has a USB 2 port ? Al the USB ports look the same. I am not too keen on the standard USB webcams because I have seen them in use and they seem to freeze and jump a lot .... that would drive me crazy !!!!

I was wondering why you would not want to use a USB webcam - it would appear to be the best option for something that is not too expensive and works with Windows. USB 2 is fast.

Thanks Rod,
Problem is that iSight is very expensive, so I was looking for better priced alternatives, but without resorting to USB. The other problem is that we only use it to converse with my step son in Dubai. he uses Windows so iChat is not an alternative. Anyway now that Dubai have blocked Skype I am using SightSpeed, but still would like a webcam for that.

Hi Stephen,

I use an iSight for Skype, which seems to do the job well. I tried out a call to a Mac user in Canada, but the quality for pretty bad. We switched to iChat and got perfect video and audio quality. I think Skype has a long way to go :-)

Seeya

Rod!

Hi folks,

Has anyone got any recommendations for webcams for use with Skype ?
Preferably of the firewire variety ?
