Brilliant Dustin, it worked perfectly! thanks so much for the advice.
There you go, I was all set to consider getting an external case to
house the 120Gb
drive, or at worst get new Mac Pro to replace the G5.
So for the price of $7.95 at Dick Smith, I bought a Power Splitter
and fantastic, works well. I even bought 3 of them as I figured the
cable was not long
enough, but only needed the one. SO if this happens to anyone else,
the Power Splitter is the way to go. It even slots back into the
drive bay, and still
uses the Data cable connection, just the power is re-routed.
Thanks again Dustin, well done.

Hi everyone. I have little glitch that has become a pain.
I have a corrupt HD drive cable connector on my G5, where it attaches
to my 120Gb Western Digital drive. I run a 1.6GHz / 1.5Gb / 80GbHD
plus a 120GbHD. The copper terminals on the cable for some reason are
all bent!. Unfortunately it is the larger of the two drive cable
connectors, and it appears that on my model these are non-replaceable
parts, only the smaller of the two connectors are replaceable. So I
am just wondering what my options are here?
Does this mean my 120Gb drive can only work if I get an external case
with a Firewire connection? or is there another way around the problem?
If the former, does anyone have a second hand case I can buy?
otherwise does anyone have a spare HD connection cable from a broken
G5. I know it is almost impossible to thread the cable through under
the grey plastic drive housing, without removing it, so I guess that
I can secure the drive in the G5 case somewhere else? is this possible?
I use my 80Gb for all system files, web files etc, and the 120Gb for
all my work files and teaching. So the 120Gb is important, and I just
don't
want to have to pay around $200 just for a case to house the drive.
So if there are any alternatives I would be very grateful for your
suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Jon
