Hey Severin To be frank I don't think the D-Link nor the Apple Extreme would be suitable.
I agree on the fact that 802.11g would be sufficient for your needs, but your range requirement may be more then it can handle. My experience with D-Link range hasn't been inspiring, the newer model Airports maybe sufficient.. Events are moving towards a wireless link from the house to the studio, a distance of probably 35m (to be actually measured but this is not a bad estimate). It is second storey to second storey with window to window view and not much brickwork in the way. I currently have a D-Link DSL-504 4 port modem router with a G5 and a G3 iMac plugged and the wireless connection will be for a MacBook used in the studio or downstairs in the house. Ultimate speed is not an issue, no streaming of movies or the like, just email, web, file sharing and occasional printing. I am wondering whether the 802.11n technology is necessary or whether 802.11g will suffice. An Airport Extreme Base station plugged in to the router is an expensive route. The D-Link DSL-G604T wireless modem router does it all for under $100, but will it have the range?
