just asking if other people who have the G5 Tower models have noticed
the following external audio issues
I've external speakers plugged in to the rear phono(mini stereo)
jack.... and maybe any sollution rather than yanking out the external
speakers
:
1: no mater what output volume I set the computer to in the system
(or menu) when the computer starts up the "start up chime" is always
at maximum volume - once started up and using the computer the
applications play fine and the volume system control works as it
should the volume setting doesn't "change"... , the volume slider
will still be at what ever position I left it in when it was shut
down and applications using audio (itunes, DVD player etc etc) all
honor that setting
the only exception to this is if I mute the volume before I shut down
the startup chime is muted. - main worry apart from being quite
startling is that its very very loud - loud enough to drive the
speaker/amp in to heavy overdrive and distortion so worry about
speaker longevity.
2: plugging headphones in to the front mini stereo jack doesn't mute
the rear external speaker port... going in to "System
Preferences/Sound" the system actually detects that the sound output
destination has changed from external speakers to headphones (and
back to external speakers when I remove the headphones) but the
external speakers still output audio as normal and are still affected
by changes to the volume control in both the system or in the
application (eg iTunes, DVD player etc...)
