Hi Mark,
Have installed the Lite-On LH18-A1. LH-20-A1 and the Pioneer DVR-112
and all seem to work fine. The Lite-On drives require 10.4.2 or later
to be recognised by Apple's Built in Disc Burning software (and
iTunes, iMovie etc) but if you use the free utility PatchBurn 4, all
of the drives will work with the OS in 10.3 as well. If you use Toast
then you have no problems as they are all recognised by Toast
straight away.
The only issue I have come across with these drives so far is that
they are not supported by Retrospect as backup devices (They won't
configure...however many times you try!) - so if you are using
Retrospect to backup or archive to DVD then you might want to hunt
around for a Pioneer DVR-111 (if you can find one!). Otherwise both
drives seem to be fine.
Hope that helps a bit,
Regards,
Dustin.

reads and writes CD's fine, will burn DVD-R's and DVD-RW's fine but
will not read data backup disks I made on DVD-R disks nor will it
read commercially available video DVD's
any one had any joy using a non OEM, 3rd party internally on a late
model mac without needing to use Toast (so using OSX's onw burning
tools)
yep I know xlr8 your mac's database search shows a large number of
drives such as the LITE-ON LH-20A1H, Pioneer DVR-112DBK, LG GSA-
H12L etc etc
