This concerns fonts of which I use a subset of the installed
fonts. I have verified them all and resolved duplicates and no
apparent problems. My default font, set in Normal Style, is Times
New Roman Regular 10pt. In all my old documents and in new
documents started using templates there is no problem. A new blank
document, however refuses to display or print Times New Roman. It
says it is Times New Roman but on screen it obviously is some other
font which I can not identify, rather chunky and bold with odd
spacing. Years back in System 6 days I would say the font ID
numbers had got swapped! Styles, font, size etc all check out on
the formatting pallette, but it is not correct. Switching to
another font also yields the same rather bold appearance with bad
spacing. This carries over into printing, it is not just on screen.
I am bushed on this one - help please!

Hi Severin,
Have you tried trashing the Office Font Cache?
Quit all Office applications, trash the Office Font Cache – Home/
Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11) – empty the
trash, and then relaunch Word.
