Any monitor that can accept a VESA mount (apple's too if you get the
VESA adaptor ) can be turned in to a "portrait monitor" of course
you'll need a VESA stand that extends high enough to allow the
monitor to pivot.
I have one I bought through directly Sylex (though it's not a Sylex
brand) for my Apple 20"
it cost quite bit ($300'ish) but it's dual arm and includes pivoting
on all axis's and quite an extreme range of height adjustment.
a word of caution though, and if anyone knows the solution I'd be
happy to hear it.
On both my G4 work machine and my G4 PowerBook the "rotate" option
disappeared out of my monitors preference panel never to be seen
again after a patch update (10.4.4?) however my home G5 tower still
allows monitor rotation.
i think you are in trouble......
a square or portrait shaped screen requires the whole laptop to have
this shape, the keyboard would'nt fit or it's a huge machine
the nearest ideas are:
buy the biggest laptop
buy a lcd screen that can be turned by 90 degrees
look around in the printing industrie how they solved the problem
in the earlier years they actually used screens specially made for
portrait display to get a newspaper page visible at once, today i
think they have large (landscape) screens
if you can program your mouse/keyboard for easy zoom in/out (scroll
wheel) that could be a help as well
