we have at least 4 (non mac people) running WinXP boot camp and no
one has reported this issue, they followed instructions as per
Apple's bootcamp setup and worked first time - all using Win XP pro
SP2 install CD though so other (earlier) versions may cause a problem
- possibly, if it dies so early, with the SATA driver, earlier Win
XP versions probably don't have the correct drivers for this - we've
found this on non mac machines even with the latest XP installers
(mostly new Toshiba's that have a weird SATA that the Windows
installer thinks is some sort of weird SCSI RAID controller)

Windows XP Home will install fine. I've installed it into Parallels on
customers machines no problems at all. One install I had to use my own CD
though, as the Dell CD that came with the customers machine wouldn't work.
(Their serial worked fine though).
I did know of a person who had a problem installing XP Home, but there CD
was Service Pack 1. Again when they used Service Pack2 CD, it worked fine.
So I don't see why it shouldn't work under Bootcamp, if it installs in
Parallels.
Check the version of your disk and maybe try another one if you can.
