Hi Bob and Robin

Thanks for your advice on this. When I was doing this earlier in the week I couldnt get any page up while using their wireless so I wasnt able to connect to it.net.au using firefox and check my emails. I also didnt try any other browser which is a good idea. I will try this arvo when I go to Dunsb.

Re the firefox preferences it is set to 'auto detect proxy settings' so will change that one to Bob

Robin I had paid for a short wireless connection and received a docket with the username and password, but because I couldnt get any page up I couldnt use them.

I was in Novatech in Busso and Juice Bytes in Dunsborough.

Thanks very much for the tips, and I will take my machine to Dunsb later and try (if it is not closed due to Schoolies down there. Apparently it really went off last night!)

Kindest regards

chris

So can you connect to your email using a browser from where you are ?

Safari or Firefox :

Should be log in option on page at <http://www.it.net.au/web/>

Also

IN Firefox - Preferences - Advanced - Network - Settings
what do you have ?

IF you have a proxy setting , it is probably set for your usual ISP access ,
changing to Direct Connection may get over your blockage ???

Hi All

Can someone please advise me on a slight problem I may have with my macbook pro being unable to connect to pages (or mail) when connected to an internet cafe wireless network? I live in Busselton and have tried one here and one in Dunsborough when I needed to check my email while out of the house. both show being connected in the airport pull down menu, but when I open firefox I just get ' cant connect to server' msg. when I open mail it tries for a few minutes then stops

Do I need to change something in system prefs or with firefox and mail?

Thanks for any help, as Im due to go to Capetown for an important conference and would like to be able to check my emails while there using the wireless network at the hotel but am worried it wont work there either. I have spoken with the guys at apple Joondalup and they were not sure about this

kind regards

chris
