Well, I've finally seen it. Whether it's because of Leopard, my nice new 24" iMac, or a quiet internet morning, or a combination of all three I'm not really sure, but I'just watching my first 1Mb/sec download as the 328Mb Filemaker 9.0v3 update comes down the Telstra cable pipe. The best I have ever seen to date is a little over 600 Kb/sec on my old G4. I'm enjoying this....

C'mon Kev - roll it out. We need some performance for all those laptops you promised...

YEAH ! Laptops ?

An extract from : <http://www.alp.org.au/media/1107/msloo140.php>

"Federal Labor’s National Secondary School Computer Fund will allow every Australian student in years 9-12 to have access to their own school computer. "

I wonder where he is going to get all the dollars that will be needed
for the software to go with those laptops , or are they really going to be Desktops ?

PLUS all the dollars needed to instruct the teachers on how to Teach the students ..
or perhaps it will be the students teaching the Teachers .

Just how is it that the COMMONWEALTH GOVERNMENT is involving itself in a STATE GOVERNMENT function ! WHY are we not pounding the STATE GOVERNMENT to meet it's responsibilities ?

And let's not steal that money out of the Future Fund , the fund for the government employee's. What we need also is a Future Fund to pay for the ordinary man's pension .
That's a Commonwealth function !

Grrrrh !
