Thanks for the information all. It looks like the HD has failed as I can't even get at the HD in target mode and it and can no longer see it to Archive & Install.

Any suggestions where the best place to go and get it sorted is.

Regards,

Adrian

My daughters iMac G3 (15" flat screen) won't start, it gets the grey apple screen with the progressive rotary wheel but goes no further. I have accessed it via Target mode and retrieved her documents etc, but am having trouble rectifying the problem. I tried correcting permissions via target mode and got an error message: Invalid Node Structure. I then tried TechTools which stalled at step 12 (of some two and a half million steps) so tried DiskWorrior which says "Speed is inhibited by disk malfunction" at step 5 "Locating Directory Data.

Can anyone please advise me if there is any point persisting with WiskWorrior or TechTools and or will an archive and install cure it.
