Hi Severin,

MacFixit suggests:
Try to restart CUPS manually: Launch Terminal (located in / Applications/Utilities) and type the following
commands, pressing return after each: cupsdisable cupsenable
Failing that, you may need to reinstall CUPS, or revert to an earlier version of the system.
Various versions are available from this Web site:
<http://www.cups.org/software.php>. First you should use the latest file with a .dmg extension, then move to prior iterations if necessary.

Otherfixes: Clear caches Use Leopard Cache Cleaner to perform a medium or deep cleaning of caches.

I take it you have repaired permissions.

Do you mean you are unable to access this page & see your Printers in OSX10.5.4?
http://localhost:631/printers/
If you cannot see your Epson R2880, perhaps this printer is not supported to use on a network.

You could try using the Gutenprint R2400 driver, it is supported.

Hi Ronni, the issue is more than just getting the leopard driver which is all installed and in place just fine. Everything works except that when I print the printer goes to pause - ad infinitum. Neither Epson or Apple have been able to help so far, I believe my Unix CUPS is corrupted in some way, though two other printers on the system work fine.

I am having trouble, ongoing, with a new printer in 10.5.4, in particular I can not get in to CUPS as previously. On my Tiger machines all is well, however and accessible by http://localhost:631/ Reference to CUPS notes that version 1.3.6 is no longer compatible with 10.4+. Can anyone advise how to access CUPS in 10.5.4 please? I am not terminal savvy and have always just used Safari in the past.

Hi Severin,

If I remember correctly, your new printer is an Epson R2880.
Have you tried using the Epson Printer Driver v6.20, it is compatible with Leopard.
You can download it from here:
